The Chatree Gold Mine is OPEN
Kingsgate Consolidated Limited (ASX:KCN) (“Kingsgate or the Company”) is pleased to advise that the Department of Primary Industries and Mines (“DPIM”) has approved the reopening of the Chatree Gold Mine in Thailand.
Akara Resources will now commence works to:
- Start full commissioning of Plant #2 which includes the use of stockpiled ore already on the ROM pad;
- Start the Rehandle Contract to process the stockpiled ore which has been awarded to Lotus Hall, and the necessary heavy equipment and workforce has been assembled for this work; and
- Ramp up Plant #2 to its full production capacity.
Kingsgate is also pleased to advise that Akara has commenced initial refurbishment works on Plant #1.
Kingsgate’s Executive Chairman, Mr Ross Smyth-Kirk, said “It’s a truly remarkable moment to see Chatree open again. We have always believed that having the mine operate again is the best possible outcome, and I would like to personally thank all our loyal staff who have worked so hard to make this happen and all our loyal shareholders who have stuck with us through thick and thin over the past 6 years”.

Appointment of new Director and Managing Director
Appointment of new Director and Managing Director
Kingsgate Consolidated Limited (ASX:KCN) (“Kingsgate or the Company”) is pleased to advise that Ms Nucharee Sailasuta has been appointed to the Kingsgate Board as a Non-Executive Director, and Jamie Gibson has been appointed as the Managing Director and Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
Kingsgate’s Executive Chairman, Mr Ross Smyth-Kirk, said “On behalf of Kingsgate, I’m delighted to welcome Nucharee and Jamie to the Board. These appointments bring both renewal and an important diversity of skills to the Board.
Nucharee’s extensive mining experience in South East Asia and Jamie’s ability to effectively engage with Kingsgate’s corporate, political, and regulatory environments will help ensure the success of the Chatree Gold Mine, and further enhance our key relationships in Thailand,” he added.
Nucharee Sailasuta – Non Executive Director
Nucharee is currently the Managing Director of LotusHall Mining Heavy Engineering Construction Co., Ltd., Managing Director of Lotus Green Energy Co., Ltd., Thailand, and the owner of Pangluang Garden Resort & Restaurant, Thailand.
Nucharee is a Thai business woman with strong mining credentials especially in effective mining management. Since 1983, she has worked in Gold, Copper, Quarry, Coal, Kaolin and Limestone mining operations, both in Thailand and in neighbouring countries, including the Sepon Gold & Copper Mine and Phubia Mining, located in Laos.
In Thailand, Nucharee owns the FGD No.2 Project in partnership with EGAT (“the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand”) and has been the mining contractor at the Chatree Gold Mine since operations commenced in 2001.
Nucharee is also the President of the Business Woman’s Association of Lampang, Thailand, and works as a conciliator of Alternative Dispute Resolution for Lampang Court, Thailand, and has won many awards during her impressive career.
Jamie Gibson – Managing Director and Acting Chief Executive Officer
Jamie is a highly experienced government and corporate professional with more than 25 years’ experience, and has worked with Kingsgate since 2013 across corporate strategy, investor, media, and government relations.
As a result, Jamie has built strong relationships with the Thai Government and community leaders around the Chatree Gold Mine, and continues to be an important member of the Kingsgate team that has successfully negotiated the Chatree restart.
Jamie is a former Chief Advisor in Mining Portfolios (metals and coal) and has high level international trade and investment experience. Jamie was formerly a Board Member and Vice President of the Australia Thailand Business Council, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

TAFTA
Kingsgate Consolidated Limited (ASX:KCN) (“Kingsgate or the Company”) can advise that by joint agreement with the Kingdom of Thailand, the arbitral award under the Thailand-Australia Free Trade Agreement (“TAFTA”) continues to be deferred in 2023, while the negotiated settlement is being concluded. Both parties are awaiting the TAFTA arbitral panel to ratify this agreement which is expected shortly.
Both Kingsgate and the Kingdom of Thailand believe achieving an amicable negotiated settlement is the best outcome. Kingsgate also continues to be reassured by the strong level of support from the community and local leaders for the reopening of the Chatree Gold Mine (“Chatree”).

Kingsgate is also pleased to advise that it has received an “Expanded Metallurgical Licence”, which now encompasses the stockpiles and Tailings Storage Facility #2 as well as the processing plants which enables improved operational flexibility.
Further, the refurbishment engineering contractors have started to demobilise, and subject to a final inspection by Thai Government agencies and the delivery of key reagents required for ore processing, the commissioning of Plant #2 will start this month leading to a ramp up into steady state production.
