Akara’s approach to sustainability is based on a four-pillar strategy; sustainable community, educational opportunities, health and wellbeing, and clean water.

Highlights

Our sustainability highlights from FY26 include:

Visited over 7,700 households and participated in 243 village meetings
Conducted a free annual health check for over 600 local residents across 33 villages
Planted over 10,000 trees across 42,000 rai, plus a further 5,500 trees for on-site rehabilitation
Diverted around 590 tonnes of mine waste for recycling
Recorded results within regulatory limits across every quarterly round of independent environmental monitoring in FY2026, covering water, air, noise, vibration and stack emissions
Women now hold 37% of supervisory roles at Akara, contributing to a more diverse and inclusive workforce
Opened the Akara Community Centre, bringing together sustainable farming demonstrations, agri-tourism and a shared recreation space for the community
Hosted Thailand’s Minister of Industry on-site to see Akara’s tailings turned into low-carbon construction material through research with three Thai universities
Received three external awards for community and environmental performance during the year, including the CSR-Department of Primary Industries and Mines Continuous Award and the Royal Forest Department’s ‘Love the Forest, Love the Land’ commendation
