Minex
http://www.geus.dk/
A newsletter to the international mining industry with up-to-date geoscientific and legislatory information about Greenland. MINEX is an acronym for Greenland Min eral Ex ploration Newsletter. The newsletter is published by GEUS in co-operation with Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum, Greenland Government.
The period since 1990 has been the first for many years with no active mines operating in Greenland. This was one of the reasons why the Mineral Resources Act was changed in 1991 in an attempt to attract investment for renewed mineral exploration. The legal and administrative aspects of mineral development were from the early days handled by Danish authorities, and revenue from mining was under Danish control. Mining was an area freed from the state monopoly as long ago as around 1900, and there were a number of private ventures in the field of mining and mineral exploration - in the period before the Second World War.
1854-1987 Cryolite mining at Ivittuut. A total of 3.7 million tons of ore were mined from an open pit. The average grade of the ore was 58% cryolite
1924-1972 Coal mining at Qullissat on the east coast of Disko. A total of 570,000 tons of coal were mined underground
1956-1963 Lead-zinc mining at Mestersvig in East Greenland. A total of 545,000 tons of ore were mined underground. The average grade of the ore was 9% lead and 10% zinc
1973-1990 Zinc-lead-silver mining at Maarmorilik. A total of 11.3 million tons of ore were mined underground. The average grade of the ore was 12% zinc, 4% lead and 29 grams/ton of silver

Padaeng.com
http://www.padaeng.com/
The company was established on April 10, 1981 with original registered capital of Bt20 million invested by the Thai public (Ministry of Finance), private investors and Belgian private company Vieille Montagne SA. Padaeng Industry has since engaged in mining and refinery operations with the objective of producing zinc metal and zinc alloys to satisfy customer demand. The company’s mine is located in Mae Sot district, Tak province, which borders Myanmar. The smelter is located in the city of the same province. The roaster plant is located in Rayong and the company’s head office is in Bangkok. The company has also engaged in zinc ore exploration programmes in Thailand and in neighbouring countries.
Mining leases to the Padaeng zinc deposit were granted by the Thai government in 1972 to the Thai Zinc Company. Zinc ore had been mined for several years before the government granted Padaeng Industry in 1982 a 25-year concession to mine zinc ore on a 250-rai (40-hectare) area in Mae Sot district, Tak province. A large deposit of zinc silicate was found. Consequently, a zinc mine named “Padaeng Mine” based on an open ladder structure was opened in 1984.
