Tiwest Cooljarloo Mine
http://www.tiwest.com.au/
The raw materials for Tiwest's titanium minerals business come from ancient shoreline deposits in the Lancelin to Gingin area, approximately 170 kilometres north of Perth. Tiwest's mine in this area has the local indigenous name Cooljarloo.

Grains of valuable heavy minerals were deposited on ancient shorelines thousands of years ago, where the action of waves and wind formed 'belts' of minerals called strand lines. Today, Tiwest produces more than 700,000 tonnes of heavy mineral concentrate a year from strand lines using a dredging operation and dry mining techniques.

Austpac Resources N.L.
http://www.austpacresources.com/
Austpac Resources N.L. has developed new mineral processing technologies which add substantial value to ilmenite by upgrading this low value titanium mineral into a high value product, synthetic rutile, which is a prime feedstock used in the chloride process to manufacture of titanium dioxide pigment. Austpac's mission is to use its ERMS and EARS technologies to become a significant producer of high grade synthetic rutile feedstock for TiO2 pigment manufacturers.
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment is the brilliant white pigment used in the paints and plastics industries and to a lesser extent in the paper industry and other uses. TiO2 pigments are superior to all other alternatives and are sought after by paint and plastics manufacturers throughout the world. The global TiO2 pigment market, which has grown over the last 20 years by 3% per year, has a value of around US$8 billion per annum. Over 60% of the world's TiO2 pigment is made by the chloride process. This process requires a feedstock with a high TiO2 content (generally >85% TiO2). Most natural sources of high TiO2 minerals, such as rutile, are exhausted, so chlorinatable feedstock is manufactured from ilmenite, a common mineral generally containing around 50% TiO2. Upgrading can be achieved either by electro smelting, which produces titania slag, or by chemical processing to produce the >90% TiO2 material called synthetic rutile.

Gekko Systems - News - Links
http://www.gekkos.com.au/
Gekko Systems specialises in the design, development and distribution of innovative mineral processing equipment and systems with a particular focus on gravity separation. Long-term relationships based on trust and mutual benefit, as well as an emphasis on innovation, are the cornerstones of the company's philosophy. With offices in Australia (Head Office), Canada and South Africa, the business owners and team of employees, contractors, consultants and suppliers are passionate about producing timely, high-quality products and services for our customers. Since commercialisation in 1996, over 350 units have been manufactured and installed in 33 countries worldwide.
The company seeks low-cost, quality solutions to metallurgical problems. Improving environmental outcomes in the area of mineral processing is a focus. Gravity separation by its very nature provides opportunities to both reduce costs and improve the environmental profile of mineral processing. Maximising recovery through gravity separation by creating a high-grade stream of concentrates for preferential treatment is a significant conceptual platform to help achieve these objectives. Gravity separation also has an important function in the efficient removal of waste.

EAST KIMBERLEY – DURACK RANGE PROJECT: HIGH GRADE MOLYBDENUM AND EXTENSIVE HIGH GRADE, CONSOLIDATED HEAVY MINERAL BANDS (TITANIUM, ZIRCON) WITH URANIUM/THORIUM. Molybdenum values up to 0.3%; Titanium and Zircon values up to 19.3% TiO2 and 7.34% ZrO2; Conglomerate hosted uranium mineralisation; Surface copper; Significant tin mineralisation.

Historical assay results based on limited channel sampling for the period 1969 to 1974, carried out by Planet Mining in the Warton Sandstone region revealed a highly weathered, heavy mineral zone contained in lenses up to 1.2m thick containing up to 81% heavy minerals over a strike of at least 12 kilometres. The heavy mineral bands are located beneath shallow cover in beds dipping at 10 degrees. Geological reconnaissance and sampling of the heavy mineral bands carried out by Northern Mining in July 2007, added high grade molybdenum to the suite and confirmed them to be anomalous for uranium and thorium at surface

The Australian Journal of Mining
http://www.theajmonline.com/
Australasia's mining industry is vast and diverse, stretching from the lush Hunter Valley coalfields to the searing yellow goldfields of Kalgoorlie, from the misty peaks of Ok Tedi to the inky depths of Olympic Dam. The Australian Journal of Mining, now in its 18th year, encapsulates the latest developments, trends and news affecting mining in Australia and PNG.
The magazine covers surface and underground mining, and all the major commodities, including gold and precious metals, base metals, coal and iron ore. Special attention is paid to the fast developing light metals sector.

Titanium Resources Group
http://www.titaniumresources.com/
Titanium Resources Group is a mining company with operations in the Republic of Sierra Leone. The Group is the country's largest private sector employer and produces three commodities, rutile, ilmenite and bauxite, for use in industrial applications.

The Group's two mines - the Sierra Rutile Mine and the SML Bauxite Mine together account for over 65 per cent of the exports of Sierra Leone. The SML operation mines premium grade metallurgical bauxite which is the primary feedstock used in the production of aluminium. TRG produces two titanium bearing minerals, natural rutile and Ilmenite, which are used as feedstock in the production of titanium dioxide pigment, a white pigment used in the production of paints, paper, plastics and pharmaceuticals.
