Quantitative mineral analysis is done by Rietveld analysis using the SIROQUANT software. For well-crystalline non-clay minerals accuracy is +/- 1% and for clay minerals +/- 5%. This includes determination of non-crystalline (amorphous) material. Semi-quantitative analysis is done using several standard methods such as peak-height and reference intensity ratio methods. Accuracy is about about 10% (assuming all material is crystalline). Qualitative Analysis- In addition to identification of crystalline material we can also identify the presence of X-ray amorphous material. Proportions of minerals are given as abundant, common, minor and trace.
