In Western Australia, Kingsgate is exploring principally for gold and copper-gold deposits in a number of geological districts.

W.A. - Regional Districts

The Cundeelee Project comprises an area of approximately 1,260 square kilometres and lies within a distinctive NE-SW trending geological belt that hosts the relatively recently discovered + 5 million ounce Tropicana Deposit, and a number of recently discovered gold prospects. Unlike other gold districts in WA this belt had no historical gold mining and, until the last few years, very little exploration activity.

South West Yilgarn District

The South West Yilgarn District is a geological extension of the main Western Australian Archaean districts that host world class deposits of gold, nickel, copper, lead, zinc and uranium. A unique regional geochemical database has been developed comprising over 175,000 samples, within an area of 140,000 square kilometres, throughout this district.

While historically this database has been utilized mainly for targeting gold mineralization, it constitutes an important asset for future targeting for gold and other commodities.

Copper – Gold

The South West Yilgarn geochemical database has indicated a number of significant regional trends. In particular, the northern part of the district shows a stronger copper-gold association than further to the south. In recent years exploration has defined an extensive copper-gold mineralized system at Wongan Hills and, in the past year, several newly defined copper and copper-gold geochemical anomalies have been defined within the Calingiri area.

Nickel

Although no significant nickel deposits have been discovered within the South West Yilgarn District there is a continuation of the ‘greenstone’ geology that hosts the world class nickel deposits within the Southern Cross District immediately to the east. Exploration has demonstrated a much more widespread development of the potentially prospective ultramafic geology than previously interpreted and these ultramafic belts have not been effectively evaluated for nickel mineralization.

The regional geochemical database does not routinely include nickel analyses and there is an opportunity to develop a database for nickel (and associated elements) from the library of stored samples.

Eastern Goldfields

Two farm in agreements have been entered into (the Yalla Burra and Blue Dam Projects) on tenements that cover a 30 km length of an emerging gold corridor, adjacent to the interpreted position of the Kanowna Shear Zone, south of Integra Mining’s Salt Creek discovery. There has been relatively limited previous exploration within this area.

Bryah, Yerrida and Earaheedy Basins

Exploration was focussed on identifying quality exploration ground prospective for copper-gold mineralisation within the north Murchison Proterozoic Basins of Western Australia. Dominion has signed two joint ventures with separate companies (Northling and Bryah JVs) while also lodging several tenement applications in the region.

Bryah, Yerrida & Earaheedy Basins

The recent high grade copper gold discovery at Sandfire Resources NL’s DeGrussa Prospect in the Bryah Basin has significantly changed the perceived copper-gold exploration potential in the district.

An agreement was also reached with tenement holders Lightrange Pty Ltd to explore the Cashmans Project.  The project is located within the prospective Narracoota Volcanics of the Bryah Basin where a copper gossan outcrops directly east of a small oxide gold open cut working. Assays from rock chips taken from the gossan grade up to 7.52% copper and whilst mapping indicates the copper bearing gossan is limited in strike, it confirms the potential for a preserved massive sulphide copper-gold deposit similar to the DeGrussa discovery within the area.

West Musgrave

New gold intercepts announced by Beadell Resources Limited (Beadell) in December 2009 at their Handpump Prospect in the West Musgrave Province herald the first significant gold intercepts from the West Musgrave District and may point to a new Mesoproterozoic gold province.
